Colleges get ‘serious’ in hunt for Dwyer recruits; plus Signing Day coverage update

By Matt Porter

Boasting anywhere from 7 to 10 Division 1 senior prospects and a handful of impact juniors, Dwyer is a popular place for college recruiters.

With Signing Day fast approaching (it’s Wednesday, in case you didn’t know), the beehive is buzzing.

Friday morning, South Florida was the only school that was on Dwyer’s campus, there to see junior lineman Patrick Miller and kicker Bobby Puyol. According to a report from ESPN760′s Herb Uzzi, Thursday was the big day: no less than 25 college coaches were on the school’s Palm Beach Gardens campus.

“These guys are serious,” Daniels told ESPN 760.

Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Weis and receivers coach Aubrey Hill, and Washington offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier were there to see Dwyer quarterback Jacoby Brissett – both schools even visited Brissett’s mother on her lunch break – and Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema checked in with Brissett and teammate Curt Maggitt.

Brissett will take his last official visit this weekend to Miami. His final choices are Miami, Florida, Wisconsin and Washington.

Coaches from other schools were firming up commitments, including Florida State (Nick O’Leary), Middle Tennessee State (Shubert Bastien), Eastern Illinois (Shawn McClaine), Bowling Green (Darrell Hunter). Florida International was also seen on campus.
