For the second straight year, it was the high school kids showing up the adults at the finish line in the 20th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday in West Palm Beach.

Stephanie Schappert, a 17-year-old senior at Pope John Paul II High School, took the women’s race for the second straight year, with a time of 18:28. Jupiter’s Erica Lazarus was second in 19:05 and Delray Beach’s Jennifer Jones was third in 19:07.

In the men’s race, Michael Miller, a 17-year-old senior at King’s Academy High School, outdistanced Jupiter’s John Reback by 15 seconds to take first with a time of 16:31. David Picciano of Winter Garden was third in 16:48. Ryan Pickering, now a senior at John I. Leonard High School, won last year’s race.
