Suncoast DE Timotheus Granger signs with Eastern Illinois

By Matt Porter

Eastern Illinois is establishing a strong foothold in Palm Beach County.

The Charleston, Ill. school had six area players on last year’s roster, tied for the most among FBS and FCS schools. After securing Jupiter Christian’s Trey Pendergrass, the Post’s small schools All-Area Offensive Player of the Year, and nearly luring Atlantic’s J’Rod Beard (who eventually signed with Hampton), EIU on Thursday added more local flavor to this year’s signing class with Suncoast defensive end Timotheus Granger.

Granger, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound edge rusher who can also play outside linebacker, was a second-team Post All-Area selection. He had interest from Pittsburgh, Bowling Green, Florida Atlantic, UCF, USF and several other schools.

Other Suncoast signing: Granger’s teammate, defensive tackle Claude Richards, signed with North Dakota, an FCS school.
