FHSAA keeps Orlando as host of state football finals through 2013

The state football championships are staying home.

The football state finals will stay in Orlando through 2013.

The football state finals will stay in Orlando through 2013.

The Florida High School Athletic Association announced that the Citrus Bowl in Orlando will continue to host the football finals of all classes for three more years. The Citrus Bowl and Orlando beat out St. Petersburg (Tropicana Field) and Miami (Sun Life Stadium) in its bid. The finals have been played in Orlando for the past four years.

“Orlando has proven to be a great venue for our member schools to play football,” FHSAA Executive Director Roger Dearing said in a release.

The finals schedule was included in the release.

Classes 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A will hold their finals on Dec. 9-10, and classes 5A, 6A, 7A and 8A will have theirs on Dec. 16-17.

Here are the full finals schedule at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando over the next three years:

Classes 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A
Dec. 9-10, 2011
Dec. 7-8, 2012
Dec. 13-14, 2013

Class 5A, 6A, 7A, 8A
Dec. 16-17, 2011
Dec. 14-15, 2012
Dec. 20-21, 2013
