It was late, but the good news still came for Pahokee’s Joe Eason.

Two weeks after national signing day, the Pahokee cornerback/quarterback received a scholarship offer from Arizona State while he visited the Tempe, Ariz., campus. The senior will bring a National Letter of Intent back home and sign it with his mother this weekend.

Eason (6-0, 175, No. 55 on the Big Board) is the second Pahokee Blue Devil to sign with a Division I program this winter. Fellow defensive back Rontavious Atkins signed a Letter of Intent with Western Michigan on signing day. Eason had scholarship offers from Buffalo, FAU, FIU, Towson and Western Michigan, although it was unclear as of Friday if those offers still stood on signing day.

The 6-foot Eason was an honorable mention selection on the Palm Beach Post Small Schools All-Area team. Forced into quarterback duties, he was 37-of-97 for 595 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. He ran for 101 yards.
