Boynton Beach’s Jessamen Dunker invited to Army, Under Armour All-American games

By Matt Porter

He’s only been here 10 months, but Boynton Beach offensive tackle Jessamen Dunker has become one of Palm Beach County’s hottest recruits.

Dunker, who grew up outside Atlanta and moved to Boynton Beach last May, has been invited to both the 2012 U.S Army All-American Bowl and 2012 Under Armour All-America Game, considered the most prestigious of high school football’s senior showcase games.

Both games consistently draw the nation’s top recruits. Last year’s Army game, which included Dwyer’s Nick O’Leary and Jacoby Brissett, was televised on NBC at noon on a Saturday and was played in San Antonio, Texas.

Last year’s Under Armour game, featuring Treasure Coast DBs Keelin Smith and Lamarcus Brutus and Fort Pierce Central DE Giorgio Newberry, was played in St. Petersburg and was shown on ESPN on a Friday night.

Both are high-interest national showcases. So which game will Dunker choose?

“Of course I want to play both,” he said.

That would likely make him the first player to do so. Under FHSAA rules, student-athletes are allowed to play in two postseason showcase games.

Dunker (6-6, 315) has more than 20 verbal scholarship offers and visited Florida and Miami during their junior days. He said last week Florida is his current favorite, and he’ll visit Gainesville again over spring break. He’ll also stop at Auburn, Alabama and Georgia.
