The sixth annual Heath Evans Foundation 7-on-7 Championship will be held June 18 at The King’s Academy in West Palm Beach.

Dwyer, Glades Day and The King’s Academy are the local teams committed to play in the event, which features some of South Florida’s best high school football talent.

In total, seven of the 16 slots in the tournament have been filled. Tampa-Plant, Miami-Booker T. Washington, South Daytona-Warner Christian and Miami-McArthur are the other committed teams.

The event has been hailed as one of the nation’s top recruiting showcases. Last year, Glades Central and Dwyer faced off in a semifinal, where players like Jaime Wilson and Kelvin Benjamin (Glades Central) and Jacoby Brissett and Nick O’Leary (Dwyer) shined. Glades Central beat Dwyer, then lost to Miramar in the final, 20-19.

All proceeds from the event go toward the Heath Evans Foundation, which helps families affected by childhood sexual abuse.
