Abe Elam says Palm Beach County is the fastest place in the NFL

By Matt Porter

Former Cardinal Newman football and track standout Abram Elam, now a safety for the Cleveland Browns, likes to hold a running conversation with the universe on Twitter. He had an idea today that got us thinking.

Seemingly apropos of nothing, Elam tweeted “Bruh all palm beach county 4×100 will reck shop @JacobyFord12 @OfficialClowney @D_Hest23 and @santonio10.”

For those who need a translation, Elam seems to think Palm Beach County’s fastest NFL players on Twitter — Jacoby Ford (Oakland Raiders/Cardinal Newman), David Clowney (New York Jets/Atlantic), Devin Hester (Chicago Bears/Suncoast) and Santonio Holmes (New York Jets/Glades Central) — would beat all challengers in a running of the 4×100 relay.

Some questions: Does he mean they’d beat a team of NFL players from other counties in Florida? Other metro areas in the country? Other states? Must all the members of the relay team be on Twitter (and be friends with Elam)?

Pretty sure Hester and Ford, both of whom have put up 40-yard dash times in the 4.26-4.28 range, would be on the All-Florida 4×100 team, present-day edition. Especially Ford, an All-American in the 100 and 60 in his time at Clemson. (He’d be my choice for anchor leg.)

Willing to hear arguments otherwise, but it’s pretty clear that those four are the 561’s fastest players. Wouldn’t go broke betting on them to beat any other county/state’s fleetest four.

Does make me wonder who would be on the Broward and Dade 4×100 squads. Any ideas?
