Park Vista wide receiver Brendan Meyers has decided to play at FAU this fall. He was one of several area players to pick a college over the weekend.

Meyers will be a preferred walk-on at FAU. He’ll join quarterback Drew Dawson (6-1, 190) of Palm Beach Lakes, who also accepted FAU’s preferred walk-on offer. Palm Beach Central linebacker Michael D’Avanzo (5-9, 175) committed to Gannon (Pa.), a Division II school in Erie, Pa.

Meyers played in a run-heavy offense at Park Vista, often touching the ball more on end-arounds and reverses than on pass routes. He had six catches for 106 yards and four touchdowns, while running the ball 23 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns.

“Disappointed but I will earn my scholarship,” Meyers said. “They really haven’t seen me play. (Receivers coach Jared) Allen said I am going to get more chances than usual because he wants to prove to the coaches that I can play.”

Dawson was 7-of-13 for 82 yards and two interceptions for Lakes.
