Here’s a tale told by the TCPalm about Centennial softball coach Cheryl East, who is battling Parkinson’s Disease while still coaching Centennial to an 18-3 season, a district title and potentially much more. She won her 100th game as a coach earlier this year.

East has shown physical symptoms of the disease and moved from coaching third base to coaching first to avoid line drives. She no longer leads infield practice. But she does stay active. And now she has a team good enough to make a serious run in the regional and state playoffs.

From the story:

Senior Kadie Maurer said watching East fight through the pain motivates the team.

“Seeing her out here, it makes you realize she wants this and we want this, so we are going to push our hardest to do this for her,” Maurer said.
