Pahokee’s Chris Dunkley transferring from Florida Gators

By Matt Porter

Florida receiver Chris Dunkley, a redshirt freshman from Pahokee who was suspended for parts of spring practice for academic reasons, will transfer, coach Will Muschamp announced Friday.

Palm Beach Post correspondent Greg Luca has the story:

“It’s been a great learning experience being here at the University of Florida, but I feel like it’s in my best interest to get a fresh start somewhere else,” Dunkley said in a press release.

After catching 34 passes for 721 yards and four touchdowns his senior season at Pahokee, Dunkley came to UF as a four-star prospect and the No. 9 wide receiver in the country, according to Rivals.com.

But the 6-foot, 172-pound freshman was hampered by a nagging hamstring injury that carried over from his high school career.

Dunkley never saw the field at UF despite dressing for four games.

Dunkley could not be reached for comment Friday.

Monday afternoon, Pahokee coach Blaze Thompson said Dunkley’s plans are not set, but “a number of schools” are interested in the speedster.
