Orlando-Dr. Phillips, Weston-Cypress Bay and Miramar have signed into the Heath Evans Foundation 7-on-7 Championship, pushing the tournament field to 10 teams.

Dwyer, Glades Day and The King’s Academy are the local teams committed to play in the event, which features some of South Florida’s best high school football talent.

Tampa-Plant, Miami-Booker T. Washington, South Daytona-Warner Christian and Miami-McArthur had previously given commitments.

Six more spots are currently open for the 16-team tournament.

This is the sixth year of the event, which will be held June 18 at The King’s Academy in West Palm Beach.

It has been hailed as one of the nation’s top recruiting showcases. Last year, Glades Central and Dwyer faced off in a semifinal, where players like Jaime Wilson and Kelvin Benjamin (Glades Central) and Jacoby Brissett and Nick O’Leary (Dwyer) shined. Glades Central beat Dwyer in the semis and lost to Miramar in the final, 20-19.

All proceeds from the event go toward the Heath Evans Foundation, which helps families affected by childhood sexual abuse.
