By Matt Porter

Three Wellington football players and one wrestler committed to colleges recently.

Senior lineman Austin Peavler (6-4, 270, No. 60 on the Big Board) committed to Florida Institute of Technology, which has launched an NAIA football program on its Melbourne campus scheduled to start play in 2013. Peavler was a second-team All-Area selection.

Linebacker Lucas Riebe committed to play at Catawba College, a Div. II school in Salibury, N.C. and linebacker Chris Thomas will play at Webber International, the NAIA school in Babson Park. Thomas played in the postseason all-star game formerly known as the Outback Bowl.

Wrestler Brandon Lustgarten will head to Appalachian State. Lustgarten placed fifth at states in the 215-pound category. He went 42-5 record (105-25 career) and holds Wellington High’s record for career pins.
