Jupiter girls basketball coach Mike Lynch resigns

By Matt Porter

After nine seasons, Mike Lynch stepped down as Jupiter girls basketball coach.

In an email to coaches, players and parents, Lynch said he was stepping down to be more available to his family. “Over the last nine years I had to make some really difficult decisions but this may have been the most difficult,” Lynch said. “Although it is a hard decision, I know in my heart I am making the right decision.”

Despite lacking size, Jupiter went 25-6 last season, winning the District 9-6A title and advancing to the Class 6A regional finals for the second straight season. He was named The Post‘s large schools coach of the year.

Lynch also earned the honors in 2009, when he brought the Warriors to the regional semifinals.
