Basketball: Former Dwyer star Ramon Galloway transfers to La Salle from South Carolina

By Jeff Greer

Former Dwyer standout guard Ramon Galloway has transferred to La Salle in Philadelphia.

The 6-foot-2 sophomore played two seasons at South Carolina, averaging 10.7 points a game in his second year.

Galloway said he’ll meet with the NCAA Monday to find out if he’ll be eligible for the upcoming 2011-12 season, though typically transfers who move from one Division I program to another have to sit out a season. Either way, he has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Galloway switched schools to get closer to his family, which lives in Philadelphia. Galloway moved from Philadelphia’s Freire Charter to Dwyer after his sophomore year of high school and helped Dwyer reach the state semifinals as a senior.

He was the Post player of the year in 2008, and he was the third-leading scorer for South Carolina last season. La Salle was 15-18 last year.
