By Matt Porter

Some items of note to pass along on a hot Thursday …

* Boynton Beach running back Cesar Brito committed to Nichols (Mass.) College, a Div. III school.

A 5-foot-10, 185-pound back, Brito carried 60 times for 400 yards and caught 13 passes for 150 yards and five touchdowns.

Brito had previously committed to Quincy University, a Div. II school in Illinois.

* Summit Christian two-way lineman Juwan Whitaker committed to Edward Waters, an independent NAIA school in Jacksonville.

Whitaker (6-5, 255) started at defensive tackle and both offensive tackle spots for the Saints.

* Jupiter Christian junior Steele Stockstill is one of 500 National Lacrosse Classic All-Americans and will represent the Southeast Florida team in the 2011 National Lacrosse Classic July 5-8 in Germantown, Md.

Southeast Florida is one of 20 regional teams vying for a national title and a spot in an international championship match against Canada.

* Jupiter’s Shannon Caspar didn’t play high school soccer – she played basketball and flag football for the Warriors – but her club soccer play with the Jupiter Sting earned her college attention.

Caspar, a forward, signed with Miami and will play soccer for the Hurricanes.
