A look at the 2010 efficiency ratings for the area’s top returning quarterbacks

By Jeff Greer

As we toil through the summer’s heat and seven-on-seven games, there’s no better time to break out some numbers from 2010 to at least get an idea of what to expect from the area’s top returning quarterbacks in 2011.

Lake Worth’s Evan Moore and Jupiter Christian’s Kedric Bostic put on good shows in their spring games, Cardinal Newman’s Brett Benes carried his team all the way to the Dolphins 7-on-7 finals and Jupiter’s Tyler Cameron has wowed recruiters on his summer tour of Division I colleges.

Of course, transfers like Travares Copeland, Tanner Redish and Shane Bussey are each expected to to make an impact at their new schools (Treasure Coast, Glades Central and Park Vista, respectively).. And young starters like juniors-to-be Kevin Anderson (Boca) and Larry Brihm (Village) posted respectable passer ratings, but more will expected of them this fall.

Anyway, using the NFL passer efficiency rating formula, here’s a breakdown of the underclassmen who took snaps last fall and will be back in 2011. They’re listed in order. (In the case of Anderson, Cameron and Redish, remember, they each missed time with injuries in 2010.)

The winner of last year’s efficiency contest would’ve been Dwyer QB Jacoby Brissett, who posted a whopping 136 rating. Glades Central’s stand-in quarterback Mario Rowley had a 112.1 rating.
