Former Pahokee star Janoris Jenkins lands at North Alabama

By Jeff Greer

Former Florida and Pahokee star cornerback Janoris Jenkins will attend Division II program North Alabama this fall. ESPN reported the transfer on Wednesday.

An All-SEC choice after the 2010 season, Jenkins signed his letter of intent with UNA on Wednesday. He has one season eligibility remaining, and can play right away because of NCAA transfer rules.

Jenkins was dismissed from Florida in the aftermath of his second arrest in three months for marijuana possession, but he chose to skip the NFL supplemental draft. North Alabama is coached by Terry Bowden, the former Auburn coach.

Jenkins had eight interceptions in three seasons at UF. He was a star at his alma mater, Pahokee, earning Post Defensive Player of the Year honors after his senior season.
