Romeus (6-2, 165) was widely regarded as the area’s best shooter by opposing coaches and had high interest from several Division I programs, including South Alabama, North Florida, Jacksonville and Presbyterian.

He’ll play in the high-profile Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, which regularly produces college basketball talent. Allen County has had four Division I prospects in recent years.

“Kansas is all about basketball,” Romeus said Wednesday. “I’m gonna be able to go in right away and make a big impact next year, so I’m very excited.”

Romeus was a Post All-Area first teamer this winter, averaging 20.8 points a game for regular-season district champs Santaluces. He made the Orlando Sentinel‘s All-State second team. The sharpshooter sank 73 three-pointers his senior season, leading Santaluces to a regional semifinals appearance.
