Former suspect in murder of Pahokee football star accused of selling crack cocaine

By Matt Porter

Willie Felton, the teenager once accused of killing Norman “Pooh” Griffith, a rising Pahokee football star in 2008, was arrested and charged in May with selling crack cocaine in Belle Glade, according to police records.

Felton, 18, was sitting in a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban near the 600 block of Southwest Martin Luther King Avenue on May 19 when a police officer in an unmarked car smelled a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle, police said. The officer also reported he saw Felton selling crack to 61-year-old Laverne Felton, who later admitted she bought three rocks for $5 and was waiting for Felton to give her change for $10.

It is unclear whether the two are related.
