He’s the first major Division I prospect to come through the program, and on Wednesday, he became the first to ever commit to a BCS program. Robinson (6-2, 175) verbally committed to West Virginia Wednesday, Village coach Don Hanna said.

Robinson recently said his top-five options were WVU, Michigan State, UConn, Wake Forest and Minnesota.

“When (WVU assistant) Robert Gillespie came down, he and Devonte just meshed,” Hanna said. “The style of offense they run, Devonte really likes it. It’s a great fit.”

Robinson told Gillespie of his decision mid-day Wednesday and planned to speak with new head coach Dana Holgorsen this afternoon.

“It just means a lot for our school,” Hanna said. “For our community and for our team, it’s huge.”

We’ll have more on Robinson and Village Academy in the coming weeks.
