Rivals released its top 100 preseason rankings of Florida’s Class of 2012 recruits this week. Palm Beach Gardens tackle Avery Young and Boynton Beach guard/tackle Jessamen Dunker are both in the top 10.
You can view the entire rankings here.
Young (6-6, 290) has some 15 verbal scholarship offers and Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Alabama and LSU are believed to be among his favorites. Dunker (6-6, 315) will reportedly play guard for Boynton Beach this fall, and has already verbally committed to Florida.
Angelo Jean-Louis (6-0, 180) is primarily a receiver, but the Miami commit has shown his ability to play multiple roles for Palm Beach Central. Dwyer’s Patrick Miller (6-7, 260), another hotly pursued lineman in the area, recently named LSU and Auburn as his top two schools. Florida and Miami are also pushing hard for Miller, who plays both sides of the line and projects as an offensive tackle.
Jupiter quarterback Tyler Cameron (6-3, 215) told our Matt Porter that LSU, Purdue, Wake Forest and USF are in his current top four. He’s been active on the camp circuit this summer, traveling all over the country. Travares Copeland (5-11, 175), who transferred from Fort Pierce Westwood to Treasure Coast this offseason, reportedly has as many as 13 scholarship offers, including West Virginia, Kentucky, Wake Forest, USF, FIU, FAU and UCF. He primarily plays quarterback at the high school level.
West Boca Raton’s JaWand Blue, a 6-foot, 220-pound linebacker, verbally committed to Virginia Tech this summer. He’d been sought after by at least 15 other programs that had offered him a scholarship. Transfer Faton Bauta (6-3, 225) gives Dwyer an uber-athletic option at both quarterback and linebacker, and he’s been recruited as both. Bauta has close to 20 verbal scholarship offers, including ones from Alabama, Georgia and Miami.
At No. 80, Glades Central receiver Jaime Wilson (5-11, 185) currently holds one firm scholarship offer from Marshall, though Miami is Wilson’s clear-cut favorite if the Canes offer him. The Urban Meyer regime at Florida offered Wilson, but the status of that offer is now unclear.
Devonte Robinson (6-2, 175), Village Academy’s star receiver, has had a huge offseason and received some 15 scholarship offers before picking West Virginia.
The last area player ranked, Glades Central athlete Dominique Gibson, has attracted plenty of attention in the offseason as a versatile defender (he projects as a college safety but plays linebacker at Central) and tough runner. Gibson (5-10, 190) listed TCU, Marshall and Vanderbilt as his top three in early May, but that was before Wake Forest offered him and caught his attention.
