Soccer: Boca players try out for Real Madrid, Nottingham Forest youth teams

By Matt Porter

Two Boca Raton High soccer players this summer are chasing their dreams with two of the world’s best soccer institutions.

Boca sophomore Tomer Bitton, a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has been offered a week-long tryout with the youth academy of Spanish power Real Madrid. Bitton’s trial begins Aug. 21.

Real Madrid plays in La Liga, considered alongside the English Premier League as the world’s highest levels of soccer.

Boca rising senior John Lee had a one-day tryout in July with Nottingham Forest’s youth academy in England, which since forming in 1997 has sent several players to the EPL.

Though Boca coach Marcelo Castillo said Lee had signed with Forest’s youth academy for the 2011-12 season, Forest representatives said Lee would not be joining the club.
