After Tuesday’s explosive Yahoo! Sports investigation that alleged serious NCAA violations by Miami, Palm Beach Central receiver and ‘Canes commit Angelo Jean-Louis held firm on his school choice.

“For now, yeah, I’m sticking to them,” Jean-Louis said in a text message after confirming he’d heard that the school was under NCAA investigation. “I just have to see what’s up after I talk to them.”

Jean-Louis (6-0, 185, No. 4 on the PBGametime Big Board) committed to Miami in late April and has been solid on his commitment since. The athletic receiver chose Miami over Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, Florida State and several other BCS programs.

“He loves the school,” Palm Beach Central coach Rod Harris said Tuesday night. “He went there for the reputation of the school, the academics, and he’s really excited to go there … Like I said, it’s close to home, he’s really happy. I don’t foresee any changes with that.”

The Yahoo! report alleges that Miami athletes received thousands of impermissible benefits from Nevin Shapiro, a former Miami booster who is now serving a 20-year sentence for running a Ponzi scheme. Shapiro told Yahoo! that his interactions with Miami ran deep from 2001, and the players reportedly associated with the controversy even include current members of the Miami football team.

Harris had no inkling of the trouble at Miami when the school’s recruiters visited Palm Beach Central. New Miami coach Al Golden told the Palm Beach Post Tuesday that he didn’t even know about the Shapiro situation.

“I didn’t have any idea about it,” Harris said. “I read about it like you in the papers. I had absolutely no idea. We’ll see what happens.”
