Football: Inside the Preseason Top 25

By Jeff Greer

As you’ve probably noticed, we’re rolling out our Preseason Top 25 in the form of stories about each ranked team. This will be the spot where you can find each of those stories.

Just follow the links to read up on your team and some of its rivals. Check back each day as the remaining teams are featured.

1. Dwyer: A deep cast of underclassmen make the Panthers look dangerous once again.

2. Glades Central: The Raiders have an entirely new defensive line, but their defense still looks as good as ever.

3. American Heritage: Another loaded Heritage team has its sights set on a return to Orlando.

4. Seminole Ridge: Without Tyler Butler at fullback, Seminole Ridge turns to two new options.

5. Atlantic: The Eagles look to improve their young defense, which graduated several key playmakers.

6. Glades Day: Gators coach Pete Walker only calls a few running plays, but his team executes as well as any.

7. Jupiter Christian: As usual, the Eagles will measure themselves against Glades Day.

8. Lake Worth: As long as QB Evan Moore is around, the Trojans’ offense will be tough to stop.

9. Treasure Coast: A miserable spring game is a long-lost memory for the revamped Titans.

10. Palm Beach Central: Big sophomore KC McDermott has the pedigree and power to lead the Broncos.

11. Martin County: With a boatload of seniors and a solid O-line, the Tigers have high hopes for 2011.

12. Suncoast: Having Jessie Hester as its coach has Suncoast thinking playoffs with a talented senior class.

13. Jupiter: QB Tyler Cameron has the strength and playmaking ability to carry his team.

14. Fort Pierce Central: New coach, new offense, no problem. The Cobras have a promising 2011 in front of them.

15. Boca Raton: There’s talent all over Boca’s roster, the Bobcats just need to stay healthy.

16. West Boca Raton: A tough district in 2011 means the Bulls must rely on their defense and LB Jawand Blue.

17. John I. Leonard: An impressive summer has given Leonard confidence heading into a tough new district.

18. Palm Beach Gardens: Big OT Avery Young gives the Gators some star power — and a calming presence.

19. Park Vista: A spread offense? At Vista? You better believe it. The Cobras have some athletes to help the transition.

20. Cardinal Newman: Coach Steve Walsh has Newman on the upswing, and this year could be a good one.

21. King’s Academy: King’s went back to an old strategy to prepare for the upcoming season.

22. Boynton Beach: A massive (and talented) offensive line makes Boynton a handful in the trenches.

23. Wellington: A whole new offensive line needs to jell to help QB Tyler Vanacore and FB Andy LeMay find space.

24. Royal Palm Beach: Willie Bueno’s back, and the Wildcats’ rebuilding project will be one to watch.

25. Village Academy: Young QB Larry Brihm keeps improving, and so does Village.
