Miami’s Dr. Krop High slammed by FHSAA fines for basketball violations

By Jeff Greer

Miami-Dr. Krop got some seriously bad news Wednesday when the Florida High School Athletic Association slammed the school with $53,000 in fines and a three-year postseason ban because of violations by the school’s basketball team.

According to a story by the Miami Herald, the FHSAA investigation into Dr. Krop took six months. The state’s athletics ruling body found that Dr. Krop had used five ineligible basketball players and falsified information about the students in question. Dr. Krop will also be on one-year administrative probation.

“We’ve had other situations in the past where mistakes have been honestly made, and are the result of human error,” Dearing told the Herald. “That was not the case here. The investigation proved there was a blatant disregard for the rules in place.”
