Plenty of Week 2 rainouts in Palm Beach County, on Treasure Coast

By Matt Porter

Heavy thunderstorms caused many area football teams and fans to take cover Friday night.

The storms, which began just around kickoff time in most places, had moved mostly out of the area by 9 p.m., but not before forcing the postponement or cancellation of numerous games across the area.

So, which games? Click here for a list of all the games affected by the weather.

By the end of the night, there were a few games that were played. Click here for a roundup of all the action.

About the game I covered: Palm Beach Central at Lake Worth, our Game of the Week, was canceled after a 1 hour, 12-minute delay (just before 8:30 p.m.). The Trojans led 7-0 with 5:53 left in the first quarter. After the Broncos went three-and-out twice and the Trojans once, a Broncos punt from the end zone went out-of-bounds at the 25. On second-and-10, Lake Worth quarterback Evan Moore hit receiver Bernard Davis on a 25-yard fade. Davis made a nice grab, diving over the goal line as the ball landed in his mitts.
