Dwyer alum Gerald Christian finally catching passes for Florida Gators

By James @littlenomads

Dwyer High School coach Jack Daniels does not want to admit that he cried while watching a football game last week. But he might have.

Florida tight end Gerald Christian, who played for Daniels two years ago, ran straight through Kentucky’s defense Saturday night for a 45-yard touchdown catch, the first of his college career.

Daniels, watching on TV in Jupiter, was overcome by joy.

“I don’t know if I really had tears in my eyes, but I felt like I could cry because I was so happy for that kid,” he said. “When he was here at Dwyer all he did was care about the team. Other guys would catch eight or nine passes, and he’d catch one ball and not complain.

“He’s just somebody you’d want as your son, and it made me proud.”
