The head coaches have been named for the Lytal Reiter Smith Ivey and Fronrath High School Football All-Star Game, formerly known as the Outback Bowl.
Jupiter Christian’s Bill Powers will coach the American team, while John I. Leonard’s Wayne Monroe will lead the National team.
The game, to be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at John I. Leonard High in Greenacres, brings top players from Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast together for a week of practice, community service events and, of course, a showcase game. For many players, it is a prime chance to catch the eye of college recruiters and earn a scholarship.
“If one kid gets a ride, it’s worth it,” said former Cardinal Newman coach Sam Budnyk, speaking Tuesday in Boynton Beach at a luncheon to announce the coaches.
Players for the game will be selected by coaches Nov. 8.
