Football: Myron Jackson forced out as Okeechobee football coach

By Jeff Greer

Okeechobee and its football coach, Myron Jackson, parted ways before the holiday break, the TCPalm reported.

Okeechobee Athletic Director Kenny Buckner told the TCPalm that the school asked Jackson to resign after his third season at the helm. Jackson, who is an Okeechobee alum and played at Florida State, was 5-26 at Okeechobee, with a playoff appearance.

“I enjoyed my time here,” Jackson told the TCPalm. “I was given the opportunity to be the coach here. I guess the direction the principal (Toni Wiersma) thought the program was going in and the direction I wanted to take it didn’t coincide and they asked me to resign.”

Okeechobee began accepting resumes before the break, and hopes to have a new coach in place by Feb. 1, the report said.
