John I. Leonard DE Andy Daceus, WR Nesly Ovincy commit to FAU

By Jeff Greer

John I. Leonard defensive end Andy Daceus and wide receiver Nesly Ovincy verbally committed to Florida Atlantic on Sunday.

Daceus (6-4, 235, No. 27 on the Big Board) was a Post All-Area first-team selection and a overpowering pass rusher off the edge for Leonard. He also had scholarship offers from Indiana, Illinois, Middle Tennessee State and Western Kentucky. Ovincy (6-2, 175, No. 69 on the Big Board) had 29 catches for 460 yards and three touchdowns this fall, and was an All-Area honorable mention choice. FAU was his only scholarship offer.

Both Daceus and Ovincy took their official visits to FAU over the weekend.

FAU has made a concerted effort to recruit Palm Beach County for its 2012 class. The Owls have also gotten commitments from Atlantic receiver Chad Ward, American Heritage running back Jeremy Gaskins and Forest Hill athlete Mikey Bullard. Fort Pierce Westwood defensive lineman Inuka Rhaheed recently switched his commitment from Buffalo to FAU.
