College football: Several Palm Beach County alums in Battle of Florida

High school football fans will notice a few familiar names on the South roster for the Battle of Florida, the college football all-star game coming to Boca Raton later this month.

Seven players with local ties will play for the South team, coached by Howard Schnellenberger. They are: Zach Brown (Pitt/Royal Palm Beach), Antonio Felenus (Wisconsin/Pahokee), Karnell Hatcher (LSU/Atlantic), Emmanuel Lamur (Kansas State/King’s Academy), Sammuel Lamur (Kansas State/King’s Academy), Martavious Odoms (Michigan/Pahokee) and Deonte Thompson (Florida/Glades Central). 

Josh McGregor (Jacksonville/Glades Day) will play for Bobby Bowden’s North squad.

Players for the game must be eligible for the NFL Draft and either born in Florida or have played high school or college football in Florida.
