By Matt Porter

They were friends on the football field first, then became brothers away from it. Now they’ll be reunited in college.

Jupiter Christian’s Austin Talbott committed to Wagner, meaning he’ll join former Jupiter Christian wide receiver Josh Talbott, a freshman at the school.

In 2010, Austin Talbott’s parents adopted Josh, who was born Josh Gamble. Susan and Don Talbott brought Josh, the son of drug-addled, prison-bound parents, into their Palm Beach Gardens home after their son and Josh bonded at Jupiter Christian. That story, if you haven’t read it, is well worth your time.

Austin Talbott (5-10, 175, No. 70 on the Big Board) had a team-high 684 yards and eight touchdowns on 29 catches in 2011. Like Josh in 2010, he was the Eagles’ No. 1 receiver and a standout defensive back.

Wagner, located in Staten Island, N.Y., has an enrollment of 2,400 and competes in the FCS (Division 1-AA) Northeast Conference. The Seahawks have Jupiter Christian alums Marshyl Rothman and Mike Lombardo, and Dwyer grad Daevonte Barnett on the roster.
