The Delray Beach school, which has had a varsity football program for three years, will retire wide receiver Devonte Robinson’s No. 1 jersey on Wednesday at the school.

Robinson, who will sign with West Virginia, is the school’s first Division I athlete in any sport.

“We’re proud of Devonte and we recognize the tremendous responsibility that is now placed upon his shoulders as he enters West Virginia University representing not just himself and his family, but the City of Delray Beach, Village Academy, and Village Academy’s Athletic Department,” Tigers coach Don Hanna said in a press release.

Village Academy finished 7-3 and narrowly missed making its first playoff appearance.
