No. 6 American Heritage received a shot of bad news recently.

Senior Dylan Silva will be out for an indeterminate period of time after the Florida State-bound ace sprained his ankle in last Tuesday’s 17-5 win over Santaluces.

The left-hander injured his left ankle, which he uses to push off in his delivery.

Heritage coach Carm Mazza said Silva, who missed Thursday’s start against Cardinal Gibbons, may skip another.

“He will be out for a little bit,” Mazza said. “He’ll be fine.”

Silva, who is 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, has a fastball that reaches 90 and throws a biting curve when he’s on. He struck out 42 batters last season.

He said in a message to the Post the injury he hopes to start next Friday, March 2 against Summit Christian.
