Softball: Palm Beach Gardens second in new national rankings

By Jeff Greer

If the start to its season is any indication, Palm Beach Gardens should cruise to another state championship in May. The national experts are paying attention, too.

Gardens (11-0) ranks second in the newest ESPN softball rankings, seven spots ahead of any other Florida team. Jupiter is also listed as “on the bubble,” though that was before the Warriors lost to Gardens and American Heritage.

The rankings, which came out late last week, presented Gardens’ game against Plantation-American Heritage on Saturday as a big challenge. Gardens won 7-0. It’s safe to start wondering if any teams can touch the Gators this year. They’ve outscored opponents 116-3 this season.
