Still No. 1 in the nation, Palm Beach Gardens softball plays competitive Miami tournament

By Jeff Greer

The new ESPN national high school softball rankings came out Thursday, and Palm Beach Gardens still stands atop the pile. This weekend in Miami, the Gators are putting their shiny No. 1 ranking to the test, playing some of the best teams in Florida at Gulliver Prep’s Slam Fest.

Gardens (13-0) is in the same bracket as Melbourne-Eau Gallie, the Class 4A defending state champion. All games — there are 84 over three days — will played at Palmetto Bay Park.

Here are the ESPN national rankings, which mention Gardens’ hard-fought 3-2 win over Park Vista on Friday night. Eau Gallie is ranked 38th in the national rankings. Host Gulliver Prep is No. 43.
