Pahokee native Anquan Boldin set to enter Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame

By Post Staff

It’s about to become a very busy couple of weeks in the already busy life of Anquan Boldin.

Sunday night, the Pahokee native and wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens will be among eight people inducted into the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame. The next day Boldin and All-Pro wideout Larry Fitzgerald will leave for a week-long trip to Ethiopia, which is being ravaged by drought and famine. A few weeks later, Boldin will hold his eighth annual Q-Fest to raise money for Pahokee.

Boldin, the former Florida Mr. Football and Palm Beach Post Player of the Year, said the Hall of Fame recognition is “right up there at the top” of accolades he’s received.

“My senior year (1999) I was (county hall of fame) Athlete of the Year and they were inducting some guys into the Hall of Fame, and it never dawned on me that was something that was a possibility for me,” he said. “It is a cool honor.”
