Jessie Hester to coach wide receivers at Lake Worth

By Matt Porter

A day after he was inducted to the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame, Jessie Hester has a new job.

Hester, the former Glades Central and Suncoast head coach, said he will coach Lake Worth’s wide receivers this fall.

Hester spent the 2007 season as Lake Worth’s receivers coach before taking the Glades Central job. He is friends with Trojans head coach Errick Lowe.

“I asked him if they needed any help with their receivers,” Hester said. “I just want to stay involved and mentally sharp just in case something opens up.”

Hester, who was inducted Sunday night into the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame, went 36-4 in three years at Glades Central before he was dismissed after the 2010 season. He went 3-7 at Suncoast before resigning, citing the school’s stringent academic standards.

Hester, 48, played 10 NFL seasons as a wide receiver, catching 373 passes for 5850 yards and 29 touchdowns.

ESPN760 first reported the move.
