McCullough, one of the most electrifying ballcarriers in the area this year, will play at Arizona Western Community College in Yuma, Ariz.

McCullough, a 5-foot-7, 160-pound back, had 1,700 yards and 23 touchdowns on 262 carries in his senior year at Royal Palm. Despite his size, he appeared to be signing with a Division I school in the weeks before signing day. While he had strong late interest from FAU and Middle Tennessee State, he did not immediately qualify.

“I know I have to keep grinding,” McCullough said.

McCullough, who received looks from several Big Ten schools, could play on either side of the ball at Arizona Western.

“There is no doubt he is a [Division I] talent,” Royal Palm Beach assistant coach Jon Stellman said. “If he takes care of his business, I see no reason why he isn’t D-I.”

According to Stellman, Arizona Western has sent 27 players to Division I schools in the past two years.

“We really think it will be a good situation for him,” Stellman said.

ESPN 760′s Wells Dusenbury first reported McCullough’s move.

McCullough was a big part of the Wildcats’ remarkable turnaround. After going 1-9 in 2010, Royal Palm hired head coach Willie Bueno. He got McCullough and the rest of the team on track. The result was a 7-1 start, with a 7-4 finish and a playoff appearance.
