Report: St. Thomas Aquinas lacrosse player suspended for punching St. Andrew’s Jordan Todd

By Jeff Greer

When stuff like this happens, the Florida High School Athletic Association responds quickly. That’s why it’s no surprise it took the FHSAA all of 12 hours or so to suspend a St. Thomas Aquinas lacrosse player for punching St. Andrew’s Jordan Todd during Tuesday’s regional final.

ESPN 760 has video of the incident, which came moments after St. Thomas Aquinas’ Jake Champion had already popped another St. Andrew’s player and was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct. ESPN 760 first reported Champion’s six-game suspension this morning.

St. Andrew’s beat St. Thomas Aquinas, whose associate head coach Jeff Goldberg is the former head coach at St. Andrew’s. It was a heated matchup between rival South Florida schools, and Todd scored four first-half goals to help St. Andrew’s win 20-6. St. Andrew’s will play Jupiter on Friday in the state semifinals in Port St. Lucie.
