That’s the thinking for graduating Glades Central linebacker Don’Kevious Johnson, who decided Wednesday to play college football at Alabama State. Johnson (6-0, 210 pounds, No. 39 on our Big Board) was an unsung hero throughout his career at Glades Central, playing an important edge role in the Raiders’ aggressive 4-3 defense. He plays with speed and range, known for his ability to track down speed players in the backfield.

Johnson had a team-best 112 tackles in 2011, and made the Post All-Area first team for defense. He was a second-team All-Area selection as a junior. He was part of one of the state’s best defenses, helping Glades Central reach the state championship game in 2010 and the regional finals in 2011.

Alabama State, located in Montgomery, is a Division I-AA (FCS) program that plays in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
