American Heritage coach Doug Socha said Provo, a senior-to-be at Heritage, committed to Syracuse to play tight end. That’s what his brother, Nick, did for four years.

Tyler Provo is ranked as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and Scout.com. He played tight end, fullback and H-back for Heritage’s Class 3A state championship team.

According to the Syracuse Post-Standard, Provo becomes the first recruit in Syracuse’s 2013 recruiting class.

Nick Provo, who played at John I. Leonard, set Orange career and single-season receiving records by a tight end. He went undrafted last month but reached a rookie deal with the Baltimore Ravens. He was cut Tuesday.
