Boys’ hoops coaching changes: Nappi (West Boca), Cavanagh (Lake Worth) step down

By Jeff Greer

Joe Nappi has resigned West Boca Raton’s boys’ basketball coach, Athletic Director Randy Kalman confirmed Wednesday. Last week, Mike Cavanagh confirmed that he’d stepped down as Lake Worth’s boys’ hoops coach in early April.

Nappi led the Bulls to two regional playoff appearances, in 2007 and 2010, but his team struggled this past winter, posting a 10-14 record and losing in the district semifinals. West Boca returns all of its top contributors from this 2011-12 team.

Cavanagh led Lake Worth to its first regional playoff appearance in eight years this past season, but the Trojans fell in the first round to Palm Beach Lakes.
