Boys lacrosse: Palm Beach Gardens wins sportsmanship award

By Matt Porter

Palm Beach Gardens’ boys lacrosse team has been honored by the South Florida Lacrosse Officials Association.

The Gators (6-11), who reached the District 22 final this season, are the 2012 recipients of the SFLOA’s sportsmanship award for the north coverage area.

Miami-Palmer Trinity is the sportsmanship award winner for the SFLOA’s south area. The SFLOA provides officials for home games involving 56 boys teams from Vero Beach to Miami.

The award is voted on by the SFLOA’s boys lacrosse officials and given to the “program which exemplifies the best all around sportsmanship encompassing its players, coaches, and parents/fans,” according to SFLOA President Paul Cicio.

Gardens beat Dwyer in the district semifinals and lost to Benjamin in the final.
