Track: Dwyer hurdler Moriel Pitt commits to Florida

By Matt Porter

A talented class of sprinters and hurdles in Palm Beach County is sending another to Gainesville.

Dwyer senior Moriel Pitt, a 110-meter hurdles specialist, accepted a track scholarship with Florida, Dwyer track coach Paul Meunier said.

At the Class 4A state meet earlier this month in Jacksonville, Pitt won silver (13.94 seconds) in the 110 hurdles, one one-hundredth of a second from gold. He was fifth in the 300 hurdles.

Pitt joins Suncoast senior sprinter Antwan Wright and hurdler Gabriel Aird, who previously signed scholarships to UF. All three graduated from the same class at Roosevelt Middle School in Riviera Beach.

Also: Pitt’s teammate, Jethro St. Hubert, will attend Dodge City (Kan.) CC on a track scholarship, Meunier said.
