Track: Suncoast hurdler Gabriel Aird commits to Florida

By Matt Porter

This is certain: Florida’s track coaches recruit the area in and around Riviera Beach fairly well.

Suncoast senior hurdler Gabriel Aird will hurdle at Florida, Suncoast coach Carnell Coleman said. Aird is one of three graduates of Roosevelt Middle School to join the Gators’ track team this year.

Suncoast teammate Antwan Wright and Dwyer senior Moriel Pitt have also committed to UF.

Aird, who won the 300-meter hurdles in 37.89 seconds at the Class 2A state meet last month in Jacksonville, will compete in the 400-meter hurdles in college.

Suncoast grad Tony McQuay and Lakes alum Eddie Lovett, both sprinters, are current members of the Gators’ track team.
