Baseball: Devon Travis a second-team All American

After a stellar season at Florida State, Palm Beach Central alum Devon Travis on Thursday earned a spot on the Louisville Slugger Division I All-American second team, as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Travis, a junior second baseman from Wellington who was The Post’s All-Area large schools player of the year in 2009, leads the Seminoles in doubles with 22 (tied for third in the ACC, 12th nationally).

He has a .316 average with 73 hits, 53 runs, five home runs and 34 RBI hitting out of the No. 2 spot.

He finished the regular season ranked in the top 10 in the ACC in hits, runs scored and doubles.

Travis also played strong defense, posting a .972 fielding percentage with seven errors while helping turn 31 double plays.
