Silviano, taken in the 13th round (415th overall) of the 2012 MLB Draft, says he expects to reach a deal by Saturday, when he reports to Dunedin for rookie camp.

Silviano’s bonus is expected to be no more than $100,000. Bonuses for players drafted after the first 10 rounds do not count against a team’s signing budget unless they exceed $100,000.

“I had a few teams on me, but the Blue Jays were calling me a lot,” said Silviano, who lives in Hypoluxo.

If Silviano did not turn pro, he would play at the University of North Florida.

He was the starting catcher on Summit Christian’s 2011 Class 1A state championship team.

Silviano’s father, John, is a former pro scout with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles.
