The team ratings for EA Sports’ insanely popular NCAA football video game have been leaked. Here’s a pick-six of teams Palm Beach County fans might choose when the game is released later this summer.
Florida State is a 97 overall and rates a 92 on offense. Sophomore tight end Nick O’Leary (Dwyer) will be vying for more reps, and redshirt freshman receiver Kelvin Benjamin (Glades Central) will try to make an impact. The ‘Noles are a 95 on defense.
Florida needs to improve its offense, which EA rates an 84 overall (not bad, but weak for an upper-echelon BCS team). You can run plays with sophomore quarterback Jacoby Brissett (Dwyer). The defense is stronger (93 rating) and features junior safety Matt Elam (Dwyer). The Gators are a 91 overall.
Miami is also a 91 overall, with an offensive rating of 88 and a defensive rating of 89. The ‘Canes have a few young, talented players from the 561. Create Gabe Terry (Palm Beach Central) and Ja Wand Blue (West Boca Raton) if you want to fill out your roster.
Virginia Tech’s defense, which last year started freshman defensive tackle
Luther Maddy (Atlantic) and lost junior cornerback Jayron Hosley (Atlantic) to the NFL Draft, rates a 99. The Hokies are an 88 on offense and 95 overall.
Auburn is a 93 overall, with an 89-rated offense that has sophomore Tre Mason making plays out of the backfield. The Tigers are a 91 on D.
Looking for a challenge? Play a season with FAU, which is rated a 60 overall, tied for the lowest rating in the game (along with UMass). Don’t feel bad though, Owls fans: your team, and its sparkling new stadium, are in the game.
